Week 2 - Walls

The week started on a wet Tuesday morning with the delivery of the Easijoists that will form the roof.

Our team of builders from Beattie Passive was reinforced by Jamie, Christian and Charlotte. They had constructed our "sticks" in the factory at Scottow and were now gaining experience on site.

The sticks for the outside walls were erected in less than a day. They were attached to the timber soleplates at the edge of the OSB deck.

Although Wednesday was a complete washout with heavy rain, good progress was made tying in the sticks.

This is our first window.

This view is from inside the house, out through the front door.

And this view is along the length of the north wall, showing our first roof joists above the main bedroom.

The structural internal wall on the right is wrapped at the base with Intello membrane. This is the material used to make the house airtight.

At the weekend with the site to ourselves, we started work on the garage slab, moving 12 tonnes of hard core into the sub-base.

The yellow DPM is wrapped up the side of the timber frame and will be lapped over the Intello on the side of the building.
